The impact of dementia on Kiwi families/whānau is growing each year, and affects people of all ages.

Help raise awareness of dementia by donning your best purple threads on Friday 21st September, which is World Alzheimers Day.

Canberra, Australia - Small actions Big difference Roadshow

A leading research scientist and sporting stars will join the community to support Dementia Awareness Month.

Professor Kaarin Anstey, Professor of Psychology at UNSW and Senior Principal Research Scientist at NeuRA, will be a key speaker at the event. She leads an NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Cognitive Health, is a director of the NHMRC Dementia Centre for Research Collaboration and Co-Deputy Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research.

Dementia Australia Ambassadors, Amy Jackson from the Melbourne City FC W-League and Nicola Stevens from the Carlton Football Club AFLW, and Dementia Advocates will also talk about their experiences of dementia and why it is important to become a Dementia Friend.

Dementia Awareness Month is Dementia Australia’s national awareness-raising campaign held every year throughout September. This year’s theme is Small actions Big difference. The 2018 theme highlights the small actions people can take to create a big difference for people living with dementia, their families and carers

Hong Kong - Luncheon Seminar for Family Physicians: Early Diagnosis and Intervention for Dementia in Community

Dementia is the greatest health challenge of our generation, a challenge that is predicted to grow exponentially in the near future. To provide adequate coverage of early diagnostic services and care to people living with dementia, task shifted model of care is recommended and the role of family physicians is important.

In the World Alzheimer’s Month, September, this year, we are honored to invite four experienced speakers, Prof Henry Brodaty, Prof Donald Li, Prof Cindy Lam and Dr David Dai, to share on the practical approach of Early Diagnosis and Management of Dementia in Primary Care, Task Sharing Model of Dementia Care in Hong Kong and the Roadmap for Primary Care in Dementia Management.

Macau - International Dementia Forum

Macau Alzheimer's Disease Association (MADA), in partnership and collaboration with the Macau Health Bureau and Macau Social Welfare Bureau will conduct a forum titled “Healthy Macau and Happy Homeland: Building a Dementia Friendly Community”.
