Madagascar Alzheimer is organising a fundraising concert with a performance from the popular band named “Quatuor Squad”. The event will also include “WAM live talks” with stories from people living with dementia and caregivers.

The proceeds of this concert will go to Madagascar Alzheimer, including:

  • Renovation of their existing centre, where we welcome their seniors members twice a week.
  • Establishing their website.
  • Starting a new project to realise free diagnosis in other parts of Madagascar where access to information is lower than in the capital city.

Madagascar Alzheimer is organising an open day at their offices for World Alzheimer's Day including mini conferences with dementia professionals. 

Access to information and raising awareness are the main objectives of this special day. Professionals will give mini-conferences about: 

  • Risks factors of dementia and how to reduce them.
  • What can ergotherapy do to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia.
  • The role of Madagascar Alzheimer in helping caregivers.

Tanzania - Healthy Ageing Camp

Fight Dementia and Care Organization Tanzania is organising a "Healthy Ageing Camp". The event will involve a discussion of dementia risk factors and testing, and the provision of information and education on healthy ageing and nutrition to 27 regional referral hospitals across the country.

This event will be covered by various media outlets, including Tripple A radio station, local television channels, international television (ITV), channel Ten and Tanzania broadcasting corporation.

17-21 September: Tanzania’s World Alzheimer’s Healthy Ageing Camp at Mount Meru regional referral hospital, Arusha, Tanzania.

Radio talk programs will take place from 11th to 18th September from 9:00 to 10:00 am.

Television telecasts will also take place on a daily basis to report on the Healthy Ageing Camp activities:

Channel Ten will be telecasting from 7:00 to 7:30pm
Tanzania Broad Acting Corporation from 8:00 to 8:15pm
International television from 8:30 to 8:45pm

Madagascar - Diagnosis Day For All

Madagascar Alzheimer is organising a "Diagnosis Day For All" including diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, and diagnosis of risk factors such as diabetes and high blood pressure. 

As access to diagnosis is not given to everyone in Madagascar, this event provides free diagnosis in collaboration with “Remede Madagascar” - an association of clinicians and medical students.

Tunisia - Alzheimer's Month Celebrations

Association Alzheimer Tunisia will be organising training days at the regional health directorates. These days will be led by members of the association's Scientific Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. This will hopefully improve early diagnosis of dementia.

These sessions will take place every Saturday in September in 10-15 regions.
