During September, the Czech Alzheimer Society (CAS) and their contact points are organising different events, especially from 17th to 23rd of September, which is marked as a Memory Week.
An information campaign is held by 25 contact points (mostly residential social care providers) as well as “Mobile Counselling Centres” in 4 shopping malls, where dementia professionals provide free consultancy (memory problems, early diagnosis, post diagnosis support, information for carers, etc.).
Lucie Hajkova, consultant, social worker of CAS: “Mobile Counselling Centres are a great opportunity for people, who may not come to our contact points for advice, due to stigma or shame. These people (and of course others) can receive informational brochures, advice or support directly or we can ask them to come to our place and talk about their needs.”
In more than 40 places around the Czech Republic, free memory testing will be provided.
After the Memory Week, mostly focused on the general public, CAS will continue with the Conference Prague Gerontology Days, held from 25th to 26th of September.
A 10 Warning Signs infographic has also been released this September, translated from the original English version.
