This year, France Alzheimer and related diseases will focus its message on inclusiveness and the necessity for all citizens to take into consideration people living with dementia and their caregivers. Their main objective is to raise awareness among society and to dismantle the stigmas around the disease and its consequences. They have launched a national campaign, which will last long after World Alzheimer’s Day 2019, with three main axes:
raising awareness and training the major local actors (police, fire departments, etc.), with the help of their nationwide network;
broadcasting a unifying symbol of recognition to signal their support for people living with dementia;
inviting mayors of every French city to sign their pledge “Alzheimer Caring City” and engage in an inclusive approach.
The Association will also be building its “Village Alzheimer” in the centre of Paris, from 20 to 22 September. This Village enables the organisation to welcome for free the general public and provide them with specific information about the disease, care services, research programs and so on. Their web-radio will be broadcasting all day, along with conferences and workshops presented by experts.
